Creating a baby registry can be a daunting task with the countless options out there, but it doesn’t have to be! Here are my 10 must-have items I registered for and recommend:
1. Aden and Anais Classic Swaddles
These swaddling blankets are popular with moms everywhere, and now I know why! They are lightweight and large enough to create the perfect swaddle to keep your baby happy and secure. I used them every single day for the first few months and I still pull them out occasionally. The blankets can also be used as a makeshift changing pad, or draped over baby’s stroller to keep out the bright sun or strong wind.
2. Baby Carrier
Having a baby carrier saved my sanity more times than I can count. Baby feels snug and safe while you’re left with two free hands to be productive or maybe even enjoy a meal! There are tons of great brands to choose from, I personally used the Ergo 360 carrier (a recommendation from another mom) for its versatility and comfort.
3. Fisher-Price Portable Rocker
The Fisher-Price Portable Rocker is an infant seat and rocker in one. It has a vibrating seat and comes with two toys that can help entertain or calm down a fussy baby. Plus, it fold easily, doesn’t take up much space and it is portable.
4. Nursing Chair
Whether you breastfeed or bottle-feed, one thing is certain: you will need a comfortable place to rest while feeding your baby. I was especially thankful for my nursing chair during those middle-of-the-night feedings. This is an item family members or close friends could chip in to help purchase.
5. Newborn Gowns
Gowns = quick and easy diaper changes during those first months when it seems like all you do is change diapers. Most gowns also have flaps to cover your baby’s hands so he/she won’t get scratches.
6. Travel System
We registered for a Graco stroller and car seat combo, but there are tons of options out there for travel systems. It’s nice to have a car seat and stroller that are made for each other, to minimize any hassle.
7. Baby Einstein: Take Along Tunes
This toy plays music that both baby AND mom will enjoy. It’s easy to stash in the diaper bag to keep baby entertained while traveling or in waiting rooms.
8. Sophie The Giraffe Teether
Believe the hype: this teether is made with no toxic materials – just natural rubber and food paint. Plus, there’s something about this giraffe that’s irresistible to babies and keeps them happy and quiet.
9. Nosefrida
I know, it seems like a yucky concept, but this nasal aspirator is safer and gentler than a bulb syringe and is easily cleaned.
10. White Noise Machine
This is probably our most-used item aside from the nursing chair. Our son used to wake up several times a night, but ever since we bought this white noise machine, he sleeps through the night!
